The main objectives of the initiative are: to strengthen the capacity of participating higher education institutions, to prioritize the development of research in biological and cultural diversity conservation of the Colombian Amazon region, and support the formulation of management and conservation plans.
The initiative is led by Florida International University, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Universidad de la Amazonia and the Universidad Nacional sede Amazonia. Through courses, scholarships, and workshops, we support higher education institutions in Colombia in the training and formation of high quality professionals that are able to carry out applied research and the dissemination of results to the scientific community. Our overall aim is to respond to the conservation challenges current and future facing this region of Colombia.
By promoting the creation of scientific knowledge, strengthening professional skills of future actors in the region, and involving civil society, we are able to contribute to the formulation of management actions and conservation reported for this biome.
